Apricot tree "Nancy peach"
(Prunus armeniaca)
Is it really possible to grow apricot trees in Brittany? The answer is yes! But only if you follow certain guidelines:
- Choose varieties suited to Brittany.
- Use a rootstock adapted to our Breton soils.
- Offer them a good location, sunny and fairly sheltered from the wind.
Although late, the "Pêche de Nancy" variety is an old variety (1745) well adapted to Brittany and self-fertile. It will produce large orange fruits (reddish on the sunny side) with very sweet, melting, rather juicy flesh and very good taste quality (musky).
Very hardy variety, not very susceptible to disease and fruit with flesh that does not adhere well to the stone.
Maturity: August
Self-fertile but production improved by the presence of another variety nearby.
1-year-old scions sold bare-root (collection from December to the end of February).
Plants grafted onto Myrobalan Plum (very resistant and productive / average adult height of 4 to 6m).
