- Description : The "Josta" gooseberry (or black currant) is a cross between the blackcurrant and a thorny gooseberry. A productive shrub with large, very dark purple, almost translucent black fruit, similar in texture to the gooseberry. The fruit is deliciously tangy and sweeter than the blackcurrant. Enjoy it as much as you like or use it to make jellies, crumbles, tarts, etc. Harvesting takes place over two weeks, from mid-July, just after "Anita".
