Red Versailles gooseberry
(Ribes rubrum)
- Description : A variety particularly suited to the northern regions of France thanks to its late flowering, which allows it to avoid late frosts. Versaillaise rouge produces rather short clusters of sweet, slightly acidic and very fragrant fruit, which lends itself well to making jams due to its high pectin content. Very good resistance to disease.
- Exposure : Non-burning sun to partial shade.
- Soil : All soils not too chalky.
- Harvest period : July
- Hardiness : Up to -20°C.
- Adult size : From 1m to 1.30m in all directions
- Pollination : Self-fertile
